Support Groups & Counselling

Personal Support

As a CISS member you are entitled to personal support, getting help with identifying issues that might have contributed to you getting cancer. For this step we have experienced staff available.

If you live in the Sydney area you can visit our Centre at St Leonards during the following business hours:

Tuesday: 10.00am to 1.00pm
2.00pm to 4.30pm
Thursday: 10.00am to 1.00pm
2.00pm to 4.30pm (by appointment only)

If you live outside Sydney you can phone us during office hours and, if necessary arrange a convenient time to call us for a free introductory personal support session.

In this first session, a staff member will find out the sort of things you might be interested in, to start your self-help healing program, including options. Further sessions are available.

Support Groups

CISS provides regular Support Groups (including online) for members. These groups are facilitated by experienced psychologists and/or counselors registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or its equivalent. Each session is conducted over a two-hour period in a safe and confidential environment.

To ensure the minimum required number of participants is reached to run a successful Support Group (i.e. five individuals), everyone is requested to register their interest to attend in advance (one week notice is required) for each Support Group date, published monthly in advance. To register, please click on the appropriate dates below, providing name, e-mail address and mobile phone number. If insufficient interest is expressed (i.e. less than five registrations), all registered individuals will be advised by e-mail or via SMS text.
