Support Groups & Counselling

Personal Support

As a CISS member you are entitled to personal support, getting help with identifying issues that might have contributed to you getting cancer. For this step we have experienced staff available.

If you live in the Sydney area you can visit our Centre at St Leonards during the following business hours:

Monday-Friday: 10.00am to 1.00pm
2.00pm to 4.30pm

If you live outside Sydney you can phone us during office hours and, if necessary arrange a convenient time to call us for a free introductory personal support session.

In this first session, a staff member will find out the sort of things you might be interested in, to start your self-help healing program, including options. Further sessions are available.

Support Groups

CISS provides regular Support Groups (including online) for members. These groups are facilitated by experienced psychologists and/or counselors registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or its equivalent. Each session is conducted over a two-hour period in a safe and confidential environment.

CISS Central Coast

The Central Coast Branch holds a meeting on the third Monday of the month at 7 pm, and on the third Saturday of the month from May to August at 2 pm. Meetings are held at Green Point Community Centre, 96 Koolang Road, Green Point. Informative speakers, extensive library, support and shared experiences. All are welcome. For further information contact Sue Johnston on 0410 696 458 or email

 Counselling

Individual counselling with a Registered Psychologist/Counsellor is by appointment only and will attract a fee. Arrangements are made directly with the provider (psychologist/counselor). Sessions can be in person or via Skype. Members are welcome to contact the CISS office for a referral.
